Jesus Led Me All the Way is the account of a life yielded to God in the grand history of missionary endeavor. It is a testimony of God's faithfulness in the life of Doris Gilbert--a faithful servant who followed Him, as He led her across three continents and four fields of service during her half-century missionary career.
The book has over sixty full-color pictures throughout. With humor, she recounts many events and hardships as she labored to fulfill His calling. Her greatest attribute, dependability, made her ready and willing to do anything that needed to be done. She served her Lord and others with joy, despite often difficult circumstances. One of her namesakes counts nearly ninety known Doris Gilberts throughout Africa--a tribute to her faithfulness as she yielded her empty hands to Him.
Her journey is an example of commitment and perseverance in the furtherance of the Gospel. Doris Gilbert served as a missionary first with Evangelical Baptist Missions in the West Indies, then with Baptist Mid-Missions in Africa and Europe. Her pioneering ministry was with a team in Martinique. In Central African Republic she helped organize the Faithful Women's groups, used by God to help the African women learn of His love. She also had a successful ministry with university students in France, for which she gives God all the glory.
Currently Doris lives in Florida where she serves at Evangel Baptist Church. Volunteering weekly at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and the retirement village where she resides helps keep her busy in her desire to serve and honor the Lord.
